Coach Stephanie Ballom
Stephanie Ballom graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a minor in Russian. At Texas Tech University. Stephanie was the president of the university chess club and a member of the renowned Texas Tech Knight Raiders chess team.
As a recipient of a Texas Tech University chess scholarship, Stephanie worked with the Susan Polgar Institute for Chess Excellence (SPICE) now affiliated at Webster University. She is well versed in chess Grand Master Susan Polgar’s curriculum and assisted with elementary school teacher workshops. As a former National Chess Champion, Stephanie has firsthand knowledge of what is necessary to excel at the activity and maximize the ancillary benefits of chess. Stephanie has been teaching chess successfully for a number of years including Tarrant County Community College’s College for Kids Summer Program, Activity.org after school program, the Texas Tech University outreach program, private lessons and Chess in the Schools. She has given online chess lessons for John Hopkins University’s gifted and talented school program.
